UPS and FedEx nonstandard-package demand fees start first

UPS starts its U.S. domestic demand charges for Additional Handling, Large Packages, and Over Maximum Limits on September 27. FedEx starts demand charges for Additional Handling, Oversize, and Unauthorized packages on September 28, covering the applicable U.S. package services and FedEx International Ground shipments listed in its schedule.

Residential demand fees have later starts: October 25 for UPS Ground Residential and Ground Saver, and October 26 for FedEx Ground Residential and Home Delivery. Higher-volume account rules can change the applicable charge.

Your next step: Separate nonstandard parcels from ordinary residential shipments in the peak budget. Recheck finished carton measurements before forecasting fees.

USPS posts final holiday price files

USPS has published final temporary-price files, revised September 18, for Priority Mail Express, Priority Mail, USPS Ground Advantage, and Parcel Select. The announced window starts at 12 a.m. Central Time on October 4, 2026 and ends at 12 a.m. Central Time on January 17, 2027. The change depends on service, weight, zone, and rate category.

Your next step: Re-rate representative orders using the October file before setting holiday shipping offers. Keep retail and commercial pricing separate.

Budget fuel and peak charges separately

DHL eCommerce's U.S. fuel schedule lists US$0.30 per pound for domestic products and US$0.50 per pound for international products during October 1–31, compared with US$0.29 and US$0.46 in September. Domestic packages below one pound in chargeable weight receive the one-pound fuel charge.

The peak schedule published September 22 starts October 25. For U.S. domestic Parcel Ground and Parcel Expedited, zones 1–8, it lists US$0.50 per package for October 25–November 21, US$0.90 for November 22–December 26, and US$0.50 for December 27–January 16, 2027. Other products, zones, and trade lanes have separate entries.

Your next step: Match the exact product and origin market before using a rate. A fuel amount per pound and a peak fee per parcel are separate budget lines.

Check the Express demand table by shipping lane

DHL Express's published U.S. demand schedule covers October 1, 2026–February 5, 2027. For covered Time Definite International services, amounts depend on origin, destination, and billing weight. DHL states that fuel surcharge also applies.

At this review, Canada Post's international alerts list parcel acceptance as suspended until further notice for Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Luxembourg, and Portugal. This applies to Canada Post parcel acceptance for those destinations; it does not establish the availability of another carrier.

Your next step: Check destination availability before offering the service at checkout. Confirm an alternative service before promising a delivery date for an affected order.
